Quick Intro
'Hack and Slash' Combat Meets an MMO-Scale Prisoner's Dilemma
ChronoForge challenges the familiar ‘greed is good’ RPG experience with an MMO-scale social experiment that gives real consequence to collective player decisions.
The Mission Players gear up with 12 combat classes to battle exotic foes through time - from dinosaurs to space raiders. Raiding and open world mini-games are used to upgrade community-governed airships known as ‘trading companies’ for top tier crafting.
The Catch? In a ‘global prisoner’s dilemma’, players vote weekly to decide whether to attack rivals, ban harmful tech or risk a global apocalypse by activating their ChronoForge to smelt the best gear!
You can play with or without crypto and NFTs. If you are comfortable with crypto, you can own and trade your characters, land, mounts, pets and loot as carbon-neutral NFTs.
What sort of Game is this?
The game is similar to World of Warcraft or Final Fantasy XIV, but with some major gameplay twists designed to bring a community together and make replay maximally enjoyable.
All crafting occurs within one of eight player-governed Trading Companies . These crafting hubs can be upgraded by players and each week vote in a global prisoner's dilemma that can wipe out the whole world!
All dungeons are randomly generated, meaning the layout, the traps within, the enemies you face and their traits will change every dungeon run. Be prepared for the unexpected!
Rare gear gets harder to find and create the more of it already exists, meaning the relative scarcity of items is preserved even as the player population grows.
Do I have to own cryptocurrencies and NFTs to play?
Nope. You can play for free or with a USD account and never have to engage with crypto. You can start minting NFTs at any time based on your in-game achievements if you feel crypto asset trading is for you.
Is this 'Pay to Win'?
Nope. Combat in ChronoForge is real-time, PvE and requires cooperation between different classes to succeed. Well-equipped but unskilled players will be quickly dispatched by higher tier enemies.
Why Add NFTs to Games?
Our team loved pioneering multiplayer RPGs like World of Warcraft but were frustrated that, after pouring years of efforts and funds into the game, the developers forbid us trading this value with other players.
By making our game items, characters, pets and mounts tradable NFTs we are helping players get back some of the value they put in to creating and improving those assets. In future this will include both official game content and user-generated content.
Not a fan of NFTs? No stress. You can also play the full game in traditional style with purely server-based assets.
Aren't NFTs bad for the environment?
It depends on how you make your NFTs! Your game NFTs will be minted on Immutable X - a carbon-neutral blockchain layer, meaning your NFT won't be adding to greenhouse gas emissions!
